Women and the Struggle.

It is with great pleasure that we communicate to the world the
great work that lesbians do in the liberation of homosexuals in Uganda.

Unlike in many homosexual struggles, lesbians in Uganda have played
a big role in the fight for the recognition of
(Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) LGBT rights in Uganda.
The first step they took was to reject male dominance in the
LGBT groups. A group of ladies, for example, decided to form
a Lesbian Organisation, Freedom And Roam Uganda, the only
exclusively female group in the struggle, who are also very vocal.
The females in the other groups are also rising up from where the
males have for years placed them.
Each of the mixed groups is coming up with a women’s desk.
At these desks, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (LBT)
women’s issues are handled.

Our advice to all such struggles is that women should be given a
chance to fully participate. A lot can be achieved with their inclusion.
It is evident here in Uganda.

Another point to note is that the girls have got a lot of inspiration from
our friends at Behind The Mask South Africa. These people have
done a lot in encouraging female LGBT rights activists.

This is very good indeed.

The struggle is on and the girls are at it!!!!!!
